The Leg Mystery Tour Goes to LA!

Thanks again to all for your calls, offers and general concern.  I’m touched that so many people are such an important part of my life, and that those people cross “work boundaries”.

So, as you might recall, our gimpy hero was desperately trying to break out of Los Robles hospital yesterday.  By 5:00pm, they couldn’t hold him back any more and he was out!

After a tough night at home as a reminder that nothing has really changed…

Today was the day of second opinions.  We miraculously got in to see a highly recommended peripheral neurologist, Dr. Lewis at Cedars Sinai on short notice  (through the referral of one of my influential friends…thank you for that!).  Dr. Lewis is an expert on things that attack nerves, and was able to provide a lot more clarity to our investigation.  He believes he knows which nerve is currently the source of the problem, and has recommended some additional tests to try and verify this and isolate the cause of the problem.

We also saw my second opinion lymphoma specialist at UCLA, who is always thoughtful and up-to-date on the latest in lymphoma trends…

Overall, my doctors are all talking to each other and seem to be converging on next steps to determining root cause.  While it is still elusive, we think we can get closer to an answer…whether mechanical, localized lymphoma, auto-immune or otherwise, we’ll figure it out…

So, no answers yet, but the team is getting stronger and the approach is getting clearer.  Onward for some more tests next week after what I hope will be a calm and stable weekend with my college kids home for a visit.

Been in the desert since last Thursday (we miss the hannel and blank families a lot!) and have not touched base with Tracie lately so had no idea there was something “new” going on. Hoping they figure whatever this is out quickly so it can be taken care of and put behind you! the wood family is always available for whatever we can do to help out 🙂 will be sending all the positive vibes I got your direction! xoxo – trisha
