Not Too Quick There!

THE UPDATE

I think I usually wait to report good news.  It’s not exactly the plan, but when I’m feeling really bad I am not really able to write…then when I feel good enough to write things are better.  Well, let’s keep this realistic…I am doing the cancer thing.

Just when things were going so well, it was time for my spinal chemo injection on Weds (4/9).  These injections alternate between two different medications, and this was going to be the nastier one (Cytarabine, in case you’re really interested).  And the doctor decided to increase the dose from my last injection (which just set me back about a day).  Well, after this injection I lost all energy and slept pretty much for 3 days while breaking out in fevers and sweats.  Fortunately, I’m done with that now, but feel like my chemo-climb-out has been restarted.  Stem cell collection starts next week at City of Hope.  Not painful, just time-consuming and a bunch of driving. Thanks to those that volunteered for driving and hanging out with me for  my 3-? days of collection.

THE MUSING

If I had any deep thoughts recently, I seem to have forgotten them.  That’s OK, I have to deal with the fridge!

WHATEVER

So, I’ve pretty much accepted that I will never own a refrigerator that is as reliable as my parent’s or grandparent’s.  But how can a company that makes an unreliable (expensive, built-in) refrigerator ALSO not provide replacement parts?  This is unfathomable.  I was told that I have to take out the old part and send it to a third party for repair and they’ll send it back to me.  So, the fridge is down for 7-10 days.  This is one area where the world is not improving.  My suggestion: don’t buy from KitchenAid.

Also – DVD REQUEST: if you’re one, the followers here in my neighborhood and have any “Season 1” sets in your DVD collection let me know what you have.  They might come in handy during my 4 week “lock up” – I don’t expect COH has enough WIFI for everyone to stream NetFlix.

We had the same “MASTER BOARD” KitchenAid problem last summer!

Ours was out for more than a Month! KitchenAid blamed the part supply problem on the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. They said it wiped out the factory that made the boards so the surplus gradually dwindled in the U.S. Their solution was to rebuild the boards in Glendale Heights IL, the backlog was ridiculous. We were lucky we kept our old frig in the garage so we weren’t living out of coolers! It really is confounding that such a high-end product should have such sloppy supply problems.

HA! At least in THIS instance I can say, “I feel your pain!” (White people’s problems.)

And sorry about the fridge! I’m sure we have star trek collections, movie series and the original series? Want those?
We are looking forward to seeing you soon.
