Cliff and I talked about finding the perfect spot in the hills around Thousand Oaks to dedicate a bench, so that the kids and I would always have a spot to go and “be with” him. After a number of emails and phone calls and a meeting with Ranger Bruce out on the trail, we found the perfect spot, and the bench is now installed! It’s got a beautiful view overlooking the Conejo Valley, and it’s right next to our “Picnic Rock”, a place we always hiked to with breakfast burritos when the kids were young. It’s about a 15 minute hike from the trail head at the corner of Westlake Blvd and Autumn Ridge Dr, in the Lang Ranch Open Space. If you’re in the neighborhood, go enjoy the view and say hi to Cliff.

Hard to believe it’s been two months. I really miss Cliff, as must the hundreds who attended or wished to attend the memorial. This morning I set out to visit the bench. From the Autumn Ridge trailhead, it’s easy to find. Instead I rchose the hard way, riding up the mountain from Oak Park and across the open space for a few hours until I found it. Incredible day. Sun was shining. Everything was so green. It’s a perfect spot and, now that I know where it is, I’ll surely visit it often. When I go, maybe I’ll see someone I know there: great seeing Arman and Tracey! B’shert.
